World-class live jazz can be heard in Bern thanks to the International Jazz Festival. The first festival took place in 1976, and it has been thrilling jazz fans every year since.

The Jazz Festival attracts lots of visitors from home and abroad to the Federal Capital, and it has acquired a world-wide reputation as one of the most important traditional jazz events, featuring top stars from the worlds of jazz, blues and gospel. You can see the really big names in Bern, including BB Cathrine Russel, The Holmes Brothers, Michel Camilo Trio, Ahmad Jamal and The Wolverines Jazz Band.
