On 28th November 1848 Bern was chosen to be the Capital by the federal councils.


The first sitting of the Federal Parliament subsequently took place in the Erlacherhof. Members of Parliament lodged in Zunfthäusern until the Bernerhof Hotel opened in 1858. The Upper Chamber met at the Aeussern Standes Town Hall until 1857, when Parliament finally moved to the Federal Place... Trace the development of Parliament in the company of our guide.
