Bern and the Bears! – a customized city tour
„If already our ancestors were among the animals in the forest“, said a well-read Bernese, „they would have probably been bears: as far as movements and intelligence are concerned, no other four-footed creature is more similar to us”… (Sergius Golowin, Bärn im Bärenwald, 1986).
The city of Bern has had a close relationship with the bear since its foundation. According to legend, the animal gave the city its name and was also made the heraldic animal. The Bear Pit in the city has existed since 1441.
But the bear cannot only be found in the old Bear Pit or the new Bear Park. Numerous bears cavort in the city: on fountains, clocks, facades, ginger bread and chocolate and many more things!
Come and join us on the city tour and follow the traces of Bern and its heraldic animal from the train station to the Bear Park! Tune into your visit to the park and learn more about the Bernese bear.
