Incident in the BearPark

On Saturday afternoon, 21 November 2009, a mentally handicapped man climbed over a barrier and a wall and dropped into the BearPark enclosure. The man approached bear « Finn », who attacked and injured him. The bear considered the man an intruder and instinctively defended his territory.

The police separated the bear from the man on time and could thus save the injured without having to kill the bear. Unfortunately, the bear was also injured in this rescue operation. Given the circumstances, he is quite well and is recovering from the incident. The population shows great sympathy, and the interest in the BearPark remains huge.

A visit to the new BearPark is safe for all visitors if they respect the rules. The BearPark was constructed according to the latest safety standards for the protection of the animals and the visitors.
