Bern has more cinemas for its size than anywhere else in Switzerland, and the range is second to none.
Cinéma Pathé Westside
At the Cinémas Pathé Westside, gangsters are kept on the run and superheroes whiz through the air. With 11 state-of-the-art movie theaters and a seating capacity of 2,400, this multiplex promises lots of excitement and pure entertainment.
Founded in 1995 as a private limited company (Cinématte – Kino & Bistro), it became the Kulturverein Cinématte in 2000. While this non-profit organization runs the movie theater, the restaurant is a one-man business run by Christian Lutz.
The Kino Kunstmuseum offers a very varied program of first rate movies. Series devoted to specific themes as well as reviews and retrospectives of some of the world’s greatest actors and film-makers are just as much a part of the concept as are movie tie-ins with current exhibitions. Art and film are here brought together in what for Bern is a truly unique institution.
